Chapitre 21 — Advance of the Fool
Edward réfléchit à l'hypothèse qu'Alphonse pourrait absorber certains nutriments à travers lui. Mustang soupçonne que le Führer coopère avec les homoncules. Havoc révèle que la moitié inférieure de son corps est paralysée, et Mustang se sent responsable de cela. Scar est retourné à Central et assassine trois autres alchimistes d'État. Edward et Alphonse planifient dangereusement d'affronter Scar afin d'attirer les homoncules. Ling et Lan Fan apparaissent et acceptent de les aider, car cela bénéficierait à Ling dans sa quête d'immortalité. Mustang envoie Breda localiser Marco, pour découvrir qu'il a été kidnappé. Edward commence à se pavaner dans les rues, finissant par attirer Scar. Pendant que les frères Elric le combattent, Mustang se rend au centre de commandement et rapporte de fausses informations concernant la localisation de Scar, semant la confusion et retardant l'armée d'État.
