Chapter 6 — Episode 6
The episode opens with Touka confronting Tsukiyama (the Gourmet) to protect Kaneki, unleashing her kagune in a fierce battle. Tsukiyama, delighted by the fight, declares his intent to use Touka's organs as garnish for Kaneki, but is then unexpectedly intercepted by a battered Nishiki, who grabs him to protect his human girlfriend Kimi. Then, after Tsukiyama is driven off, Nishiki tends to Kimi while Touka and Kaneki regroup following the confrontation. Later, the focus shifts to a quieter moment involving a young ghoul girl named Hinami and her mother Ryouko, who reconcile after an argument and share a warm exchange in which Ryouko promises to buy Hinami a present. Meanwhile, investigators are shown examining evidence, suggesting the CCG is closing in on the ghouls in the area. Kaneki then approaches Touka to discuss their work shift and sincerely apologizes for having spoken carelessly about her friendship with the human girl Yoriko, reflecting on how the bond between Hinami and Ryouko showed him that parental love transcends the divide between humans and ghouls. At the end, Kaneki muses that the relationship between Nishiki and Kimi could serve as a model for coexistence between humans and ghouls, while Hinami asks about Touka's wellbeing. A brief post-credits scene shows Nishiki and Kimi sharing a lighthearted moment over matching bangles, offering a rare glimpse of warmth before the next episode, titled "Captivity," is previewed.
