Eighty Six Season 1

Chapter 12 — Episode 12

First, the episode opens with a recap of the Republic of San Magnolia's war against the Legion, establishing that the Juggernauts are falsely presented as unmanned machines while the Eighty-Six do the actual fighting. Lena reflects on her assignment to command Spearhead Squadron and her determination to fix the Republic's injustices. During this time, Shin reveals to Lena the truth about the Legion's "Black Sheep" — units powered by harvested human brains — and explains that his near-death experience gave him the ability to hear the voices of the dead, including his brother Shourei, whose Legion-controlled voice still blames Shin for their family's deaths. Then, as Spearhead Squadron advances beyond the Republic's borders into the unexplored eastern battlefield, Raiden confronts Lena and tells her that nothing she does can change their fate, as they are destined to be wiped out. Shin faces a climactic moment with his brother Shourei's Legion unit, and after a tense confrontation, Shourei's voice finally says goodbye, releasing Shin from the guilt he has carried. Lena, maintaining her Para-RAID connection, witnesses the squadron's final push eastward, resolving to keep watching as their Handler no matter the pain. Finally, after being placed under house arrest, Lena travels to the abandoned Spearhead base, where she finds messages left behind by Raiden and Theoto with the names of all the fallen. Shin's final words through the Para-RAID ask Lena to leave flowers at their destination someday, before the connection goes silent. The episode ends with Shin leading the surviving members eastward beyond District 86, declaring he will fight until fate finally claims him, as a Season 2 announcement appears.
