Chapter 13 — Episode 13

First, the episode opens in Sankt Jeder, Giad Federacy, on December 18th, Stellar Year 2148, as the city prepares for the Festival of the Holy Birth. The surviving Eighty-Six — Shinei, Raiden, Anju, Kurena, and Theoto — are shown living civilian lives, with Shinei working a delivery job, Anju attending a cooking class, and the group exploring the festive city markets. At the library, Shinei meets Raiden's shy younger sister Nina and a boy named Eugene Rantz, as well as a girl who introduces herself as Frederica Rosenfort. Then, the group gathers at Republic Plaza, where Raiden and Anju discuss Shinei's psychological state — noting that his drive to kill his brother may have been what kept him alive, and wondering what anchors him now that his brother is gone. Shinei himself quietly acknowledges he may still be emotionally trapped, having unknowingly gravitated toward the site of the former Republic embassy. The group also reflects on the Federacy's interest in their Para-RAID implants and the Juggernauts, expressing mixed feelings about their past. Finally, Ernst meets with the Eighty-Six and, after being challenged on whether he is simply replacing one cage with another, agrees to let them return to the battlefield on the condition they enroll in Special Officer Training School. Frederica then reveals her true identity as Augusta Frederica Adel-Adler, the last Empress of Giad, and begs the Eighty-Six to help her destroy the ghost of her knight Kiriya, who was captured by the Legion. At the end, on January 7th, 2149, the group departs, heading back to war.
