Eighty Six Season 1

Chapter 23 — Episode 23

On December 24th, Stellar Year 2149, during the Holy Birth Festival, Shin, Raiden, Anju, Kurena, and Theo return home and are welcomed back warmly. Lena then presents them with a proposal to form an Independent Mobile Force — a unit composed entirely of Eighty-Six — that would allow them to continue fighting on the front lines, with a foreign officer serving as their commander. Jerome Karlstahl is briefed on the dire military situation: the Western Theater has suffered 60% losses, while the Legion's manufacturing facilities remain intact, meaning humanity faces a slow defeat unless action is taken. Then, on December 26th, Lena visits her father's grave and reflects on recent events — the Legion offensive during the Revolution Festival, the fall of the Republic within a week, and the eventual rescue by the Giad Federacy, which also offered citizenship to surviving Eighty-Six. Despite this progress, tensions remain among Republic citizens who still harbor discriminatory attitudes. Lena formally volunteers to lead a unit assigned to help the Federacy break the stalemate north of District 1, and Jerome approves her request. Finally, Lena is brought before her new team, where she formally introduces herself as Colonel Vladilena Milizé. Shin steps forward and corrects her, noting that while it is their first time seeing each other face to face, they have long since met — identifying himself as Shinei Nouzen, former combat commander of Spearhead Squadron and now a Federacy Captain. Lena is overwhelmed with emotion as she reunites with Shin and the rest of the surviving Spearhead members, and the episode closes with her telling Shin that she has finally caught up to him and will fight alongside him from now on.
