Chapter 18 — Episode 18

First, Vladilena Milizé formally presents her decision as Western Theater commander to assign the five Eighty-Six and the rest of Nordlicht Squadron to the mission to destroy the Morpho. She confronts General Jerome Karlstahl, questioning whether the mission is a disguised attempt to eliminate the Eighty-Six, and Karlstahl admits that some officers had previously advocated for their elimination. Lena firmly declares that welcoming them is consistent with her ideals and the Federacy's values, and Karlstahl ultimately accepts her decision. Then, preparations for the operation unfold, including the revelation that Lev Aldrecht will pilot the Nachzehrer aircraft to transport the squad deep into Legion territory. Shinei Nouzen has a tense confrontation with Frederica, insisting she be sent to the rear rather than accompany the mission, arguing that her limited ability to perceive only her knight Kiriya — and not the surrounding Legion — would get everyone killed. Frederica pushes back fiercely, drawing a parallel between Shin pursuing his brother's ghost and her own desire to face Kiriya, but Shin remains resolute. Finally, on October 7th, General Karlstahl delivers a rousing speech to the Western Theater forces before launching the all-out offensive into Legion-held territory. As the ground assault begins drawing the Legion vanguard out of position, the Nachzehrer successfully launches, carrying Shin and the Nordlicht squad on a roughly nine-minute aerial journey toward the Morpho over 1,000 kilometers away. The episode ends with the operation fully underway, the Federacy forces fighting hard on the ground while Shin and his squad soar through the sky toward their target.
