Chapter 21 — Episode 21

First, on October 11th of Stellar Year 2149, Shinei and the remaining Eighty-Six squad push forward toward the Morpho, which has stopped approximately 15 kilometers away. Anju falls off a cliff during a Legion ambush and, unable to rejoin the group, volunteers to stay behind with Fido's spare missile pods to hold off the pursuing Löwe units, allowing the others to advance. Then, as another Legion force attempts to block their path, Kurena volunteers to act as a decoy in the forested terrain, splitting the squad further so Shin and Raiden can reach the Morpho. Shin orders Frederica and Fido to remain hidden, instructing Fido to return Frederica safely to the Federacy if he does not survive. The battle against the Morpho, controlled by Kiriya Nouzen, begins in earnest, with Kiriya attempting to overheat Shin's unit by forcing him to dodge relentlessly. Shin realizes Kiriya's strategy and presses forward despite the danger, while Kiriya reveals his despair — that battle is all he has left after losing everything. Finally, Frederica breaks free from Fido and confronts Kiriya directly, calling out to him as his former empress and demanding he stop fighting. Using the moment of distraction she creates, Shin delivers a decisive strike, destroying the Morpho. In the aftermath, Frederica tells Shin that Kiriya's consciousness is located behind the main gun, and Shin reaches him — with Kiriya's final word being "Shin."
