Sousou no Frieren Season 1

Chapter 2 — Episode 2

The episode opens with a flashback to Fern's early magic training under the mage Macht, who evaluates her progress and notes that while her mana and firing strength are lacking, her control over magic is exceptionally high. Then, back at Heiter's home, Frieren speaks with Heiter and realizes he has collapsed from illness; she resolves to decipher a grimoire quickly, while Fern refuses to pause her training until she acknowledges that Heiter is dying and agrees to stay by his side. After Heiter's death, Frieren and Fern begin traveling together as adventurers, set 26 years after Himmel's death, taking on simple jobs and collecting minor folk spells as Frieren's hobby. In the middle of the episode, Frieren and Fern arrive in a village in the Turk region, where an elderly woman shows them a neglected and rusted statue of Himmel the Hero. Frieren uses a recently learned rust-removal spell to restore the statue, and the old woman expresses her wish to plant blue moon weed flowers around it — flowers from Himmel's hometown that Frieren has never seen but remembers Himmel once promised to show her. At the end of the episode, Frieren and Fern search the surrounding area and discover a field of blue moon weed, apparently spread by seed rats burying petals. Frieren reflects that it took longer than she would have liked, addressing Himmel's memory directly, and the flowers are planted around the restored statue. The episode concludes with a preview hinting at a new threat — the Elder Sage of Corruption, Qual — setting up the next episode.
