Chapter 6 — Episode 6

First, the episode opens with Stark training outdoors near a large fissure he created during his practice. Fern questions why he continues training when he has no intention of fighting the dragon threatening the village. Stark explains that when he arrived, the villagers lived in fear, but now they smile and call him their hero — even though he has done nothing, as the dragon simply hasn't attacked. He admits he might actually run away if the dragon came, and reveals his forehead scar came from a fight with his master, Eisen, not from battling monsters. Then, the group moves on and arrives at the fortress city of Waal in Riegel Canyon, 28 years after Himmel's death. A checkpoint guard informs them that passage north is blocked due to increased monster activity. Frieren decides they will wait in the city, looking forward to conducting magical research. During their stay, she demonstrates a spell that allows her to see through objects, and Stark officially decides to join Frieren and Fern on their journey, saying he wants to go on a "ridiculous journey" too. Finally, when the checkpoint remains closed, Frieren's identity as a member of the legendary hero's party is revealed to the castellan, who immediately grants them passage with great fanfare and praise. The group passes through to cheers from the crowd. Stark reflects that this must be how his master Eisen once departed for the north, and the episode ends with the party heading onward, with a preview hinting at new threats and characters in Episode 7.
