Chapter 7 — Episode 7

First, the episode opens with Frieren and her companions — Fern and Stark — clearing rubble from a blocked road in the northern lands, 28 years after Himmel's death. While working, they meet a traveler named Macht, who guides them toward the nearby town of Graf Granat's domain. Along the way, Frieren explains to her companions that demons use human language not for communication but purely for deception, recounting a past memory of a demon child that mimicked pain and called for its mother to manipulate the hero's party. Then, upon arriving in town, Frieren spots a demon among the crowd and immediately attacks him. This demon, Lord Lügner, reveals himself to be a "messenger of peace" sent by the greater demon Aura the Guillotine, who has been waging war against the town. Graf Granat has Frieren imprisoned in the dungeon for the assault, where she calmly asks for a grimoire to pass the time. Fern and Stark research the situation and learn that Aura, having regained power 28 years ago, proposed peace negotiations — a move Frieren considers futile and dangerous. Finally, Graf Granat shows Lügner his deceased son's room, revealing his son was killed by Aura's forces ten years ago. Lügner manipulates the grieving lord with words of peace, secretly planning to convince him to lower the town's defense barrier so Aura's army can destroy it. Meanwhile, another demon named Draht slips away from the diplomatic meeting and breaks into the dungeon to kill Frieren, claiming to be stronger than Aura herself — setting up a confrontation as the episode ends.
