Sousou no Frieren Season 1

Chapter 24 — Episode 24

First, the episode opens with the examinees confronting Spiegel, the Water-Mirror Demon, a mythical monster lurking in the Ruins of the King's Tomb. An explanation is provided about Spiegel's ability to read the memories of intruders and create perfect tangible clones that replicate their abilities, mana, and techniques — which is why the dungeon has never been conquered. Frieren's group, having progressed relatively smoothly through the dungeon and discovered a pristine Unified Dynasty mural, soon finds their path to the innermost depths blocked by a clone that has been stationed there for half a day. Then, Denken's group, cornered and injured, attempts to analyze the clone's behavior while Land (referred to as "Four-eyes") provides insight into its capabilities. Meanwhile, Frieren's group devises a strategy: Methode attempts to use restraining and hypnosis magic on the clone, but both fail, as the clone shares Frieren's resistance. Macht deduces that a specialist in hypnosis magic — an examinee named Edel — might be able to exploit a weakness in Frieren's old mental defense system, though it remains uncertain whether the clones even possess a mind. Finally, the group attempts a coordinated assault using a defensive magic barrier to buy fifteen seconds for Edel to attempt hypnosis, but the clone shatters the barrier faster than expected using both brute force and technique. Edel concludes that the clone has no true mind — only a precise imitation of one — making it impossible to defeat through hypnosis. The group is forced to flee and rely on others, while Macht, regrouping with Ehre and Scharf, confidently declares she knows how to win regardless of the circumstances, and a new plan begins to take shape
